Chai Masala

Take your taste buds on a journey with some of the most distinct flavors from the Indian subcontinent, masala chai. This is a blend of fine Indian black tea, vanilla pieces, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, black pepper, cloves, and green cardamom pods.Typically in India this tea would be served with buffalo milk or canned condensed milk. Buffalo milk is admittedly hard to find, so you might have to improvise with regular milk, almond milk, soy milk, a bit of cream, you get the picture. It also brews up just fine on its own.In the Western world when we say “chai” we’re typically referring to the spices in this tea. In India, just like in more than half the world, “chai” simply means “tea”. “Masala” refers to the spices in what we normally call “chai”. Either way, if you tell me you like “chai” I’ll know exactly what you’re talking about and point you in the direction of this tea.The spices in this tea are warming and invigorating, making it perfect for cold nights at home or just those nights when you’re feeling a little wanderlust and want to experience a bit of the world….or for cold nights when you just wish you were somewhere nice and balmy.
